Step 2

Day One: Arrival

At Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will meet our staff and transferred to Moshi for Kilimanjaro trekking and Arusha Mt. Meru trekking. You'll receive a detailed and friendly briefing about your trek, giving you an ideal opportunity to pick up any essential gear you may have missed. Additionally, your guide will share valuable other info for the trek ahead

Step 3

The Trek Begins

You will need to complete mandatory registration and clearance at the entry gate, and once you have finalized the activity, you can begin your mountain trekking adventure. Depending on the route chosen, the trekking trail starts amidst lush greenery and stunning vistas, and if you are lucky, you might catch a glimpse of some wildlife along the way. Enjoy your trek!

Daily Trekking Schedule

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

  • Arrival and briefing: Meet with your trekking guide, review the itinerary, and check gear.
  • Accommodation: Overnight stay at a hotel in Moshi.

Day 2: Moshi to Mandara Hut

  • Starting point: Drive to Marangu Gate (1,870m) for registration.
  • Trekking details: A 6-7 hour trek through lush rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,720m).
  • Highlights: Stunning vegetation and occasional sightings of Colobus monkeys.
  • Accommodation: Mandara Hut.

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

  • Trekking details: 6-7 hours trek passing through moorland to Horombo Hut (3,700m).
  • Highlights: Spectacular views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.
  • Accommodation: Horombo Hut.

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

  • Trekking details: 6-7 hours trek across the alpine desert to Kibo Hut (4,700m).

  • Accommodation: Kibo Hut.

Day 5: Summit to Uhuru Peak and descent to Horombo Hut

Midnight Ascent:

  • Trekking details: Start at midnight for a 6-8 hour climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), Africa’s highest point.
  • Highlights: Celebrate reaching the summit and enjoy breathtaking sunrise views.

Descent:

  • Trekking details: Descend to Horombo Hut (3,700m) for overnight stay.

Day 6: Horombo Hut to Moshi/Arusha

  • Trekking details: 6-hour descent to Marangu Gate for exit formalities.
  • Celebration: Receive your certificate and return to Moshi/Arusha.
